Women's Ministry Leader: Jenny Warlick
Hello Ladies of Crestview!
I wish we could have taken all of you to the Oklahoma Ladies Retreat. We had a great time! Our group consisted of 10 women from Crestview and a guest. I love this weekend for so many reasons and I challenge all of you to come next year. I would like to take a moment to share a few things that I was encouraged and challenged by during this weekend. The first day we heard from a beautiful & mature lady named Esther who used the story of the Samaritan women (John 4:3-15) to challenge us to "Go out of our way on our way." She reminded me that when we do things in us we look like us, but when we do things through Christ we look like Christ. Also on the first day I was challenged by a funny thirty something named Jen, using the story of Mary and Martha. (Luke 10:38-42) Asking the question, do we sit at Jesus' feet to hear and learn from Him or do we busy ourselves with the things of this world? On the last day Jen used the story of James and John (Mark 10:35-40) when they asked "Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You." and the story of the blind man Bartimeaus, (Mark 10:46-52) who cried out to Jesus, who was also trying to be silenced by the crowd, asking "Rabbi, I want to regain my sight!" Some questions from these passages were, do I think that I have arrived and deserve to ask God for what is not mine to have? Do I try to silence or ignore those who want so desperately to see what God sees?
Or do I cry out to God and ignore the ones around me who are trying to keep me quite, asking with faith that God's will be done in my life? Needless to say God got my attention on many things that I need to be aware of in my life.
I would like all of you ladies to know that I enjoyed the Women's Bible Study and can't wait to start another in August. I will make an attempt to have something monthly to keep us conected through the busy summer coming up. Check the bullitine board, website, and newsletter for details. Have a GREAT May everyone!
